Mixed Media

 Artist County

My mixed media compositions—colorful layers of acrylic paint, collage, and drawing media—emerge from hand-pulled printmaking techniques. My work is mostly abstract, led by aesthetics, ingenuity, and the flexibility to change course when the media suggests.
Reuse has always been a component of my work. Less affords more. A scrap from the studio floor or the remnants from a paint pallet can be a new starting point. Creativity emerges from the most restrained circumstances.
The gateway to my creative process was my early introduction to textiles. I came to understand the lines of embroidery samplers and garment patterns. Eventually, I departed from the detailed instructions in favor of my own techniques and embellishments. I prefer to color outside the lines.
