Nina Yocom is a self-taught artist, born and raised in suburban Philadelphia. Her earliest exposure to fine art was when her mother volunteered in her public elementary schools with a program called “Art Goes to School.” This innovative program exposed her to a variety of artists and their work, along with an understanding of the color wheel and how colors work together. Her father, an award-winning photographer, also influenced her own lens. This background, along with a liberal arts education, cultivated an appreciation for how art is a conduit of connection. As an emerging artist in her early 50s, Nina feels that she is making a radical re-discovery of self, enhanced by the act of creating. In her work Nina allows the flow of alcohol ink to organically form the structure of her piece. On occasion, she layers acrylic paint over the alcohol ink once it has dried. She also enjoys using fine liner pens to detail over the alcohol ink images. Usually, the artwork can stand alone if she is satisfied with the layout. Either way, she enjoys this medium to express gratitude, hope, healing, and self-acceptance.

I’m a lifelong artist whose work emphasizes how contrasting light and shadow define a subject and create a mood. Color also plays a large role in my paintings, adding to the emotional feel of my work. I often focus on local, Chester County subjects, sometimes including animals in their natural surroundings, although other subjects can also be appealing. I’m a member of the Delaware Valley Art League and the Chester County Art Association, exhibiting regularly in Yellow Springs, Art Ability, and in other regional exhibits.

Ryan J. Greenheck received his Master of Fine Arts degree from SUNY College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2004. He also received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2002. He has participated in numerous national juried exhibitions and invitational shows since 2000. His work is represented in many galleries, collections and homes throughout the world. Over the past 12 years, he has been a professor at several academic institutions including The University of Pennsylvania and Temple’s Tyler School of Art. Ryan is currently involved with a number of projects, which currently fall under his business title, Greenheck Ceramics. He is an advocate for the field of Studio Art Pottery worldwide and is a full time practicing studio potter based in Spring City, PA.

I approach my mixed media painting with the same curiosity I'd have for any new place. Because I use various materials, their interaction is always a bit of a surprise, completely hijacking my attention. Sifting through piles of ordinary moments I look for the peculiar, aiming to bring something uncommon to life in rich layers of color and texture; synthesizing observation and obsession. The resulting narrative imagery mixes with abstraction to pull playful stories in many directions.

I am a painter that works mostly in watercolor, some pastels, and occasionally oils. I would describe my style as loose, contemporary, realism. My paintings are generally of nature, landscapes, florals, water ,and gardens . I especially like to paint landscapes that feature some water. I have been told that my paintings are peaceful and that makes me happy!
