MEET THE ARTIST

I have been drawing and painting from childhood with a lifelong interest in working from life. My work is concerned with a visual and perceptual dialogue with the visible word I encounter. The themes I pursue include many oppositional ideas like beauty and decay, and precious detritus. Light is paramount to finding form and expression, and although my work is from life, the underpinnings are very abstract. I've been interested in ancient media such as encaustic, silverpoint and egg tempera for their unique beauty and permanence.I work from life, sketches and color studies.
