MEET THE ARTIST

The old masters were a huge influence on me as an artist, especially the art of Rembrandt. Once exposed to his work, I instantly knew my artistic direction would include oil painting & copperplate etching. These two very different mediums lend themselves to what I hope to convey through my art, using mood, atmosphere & a sense of solitude as the driving characteristics throughout my work.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, my early artwork was influenced by the city surroundings & my love of music, but over the years the scope of my work has grown to include many subjects. A move from city life to my current home/studio with vast views of the countryside, broadened my scope & inspired me to explore aspects of our surroundings that are often seen but not truly savored, & expressing it in way that is less about specific locations or objects.
FINDING INNER BEAUTY
Art is a means to explore & experience a subject on a deeper level, by looking beyond its superficial aspects & savoring the inner beauty. Through each painting & etching, I strive to convey this beauty as I see it. Although creating art can be a very solitary journey, sharing that experience & connecting with others through my art is the ultimate reward.
