MEET THE ARTIST

I am a landscape painter. I am fascinated by the light, color, patterns and textures I see in the natural world. I am most drawn to the drama of the light at the beginning and the end of the day when the sun hangs low in the sky and traces long threads of light across the terrain that weave their way through stands of trees and grasses.
Making paintings is about capturing the whole of my experience, not only what I see, but what I’m feeling and thinking. How quickly the changing light moves across the sky, or a shard of light cutting through the woods climbs the trunk of a tree. It is more than just a moment in time, it is the passage of time. The purpose of my work is to tell you, the viewer, a story. However, the story is incomplete. Only that information which is essential is provided so that you may fill in the missing pieces and participate in creating your own experience.
Stroud Preserve has inspired a larger project for me this year– “A Year at Stroud.” I intend to assemble a body of work, including several large formal paintings marking the change of seasons. With gratitude, and in partnership with Natural Lands, I will be donating 10% of sales on all related paintings and prints.
