I am both a ceramicist and a painter. The two media work in tandem for me, as I have both a fully equipped ceramics studio downstairs and an art studio upstairs. Both will be open with all rooms of the house accessible to show the work in situ.
My paintings are figurative, (not the figure) but referencing subject matter used by artists through the ages: my focus is on still life and abstract landscape, both incorporating decorative elements. The ceramics is completely functional, oven safe, dishwasher and microwave safe. It is also decorative. I often draw on the surfaces as well as use transfer patterns and embossing. I think I wanted to be a fabric designer!
