Jury - 2021 CHESTER COUNTY STUDIO TOUR
I began making fused glass jewelry about 15 years ago, but my pieces quickly progressed from wearable art to larger art glass, and I currently make both. I enjoy creating fused glass because of the unique play of light and color that glass offers. It’s a very giving (if not forgiving) medium, as it shares its vibrancy with the surroundings ~ throwing color onto lighter surfaces, with effects that change throughout the day. I also like the challenge of seeing what I can get glass to do, especially when it appears impossible, like weaving glass. And I love its paradoxical nature ~ glass is fragile, yet strong, and can be either whimsical or elegant. Not to mention functional, which is a lovely added dimension for a piece of art! I am most often inspired by nature, as well as by the rich colors, patterns, & textures of the glass itself.
