Jury - 2023 CHESTER COUNTY STUDIO TOUR

I am an expressionist painter which means my work is characterized by spontaneous brushwork and mark-making, non-representational portraits or figures, and a progression towards abstraction. In my work, ideas are often borrowed from myths and “primitive art.” I paint by inspiration to express my inner feelings, views or ideas, an inner reality. My use of color is non-naturalistic and bold. I enjoy using thick paint and texture. Expressionism is considered an extension of romanticism and that definitely fits me. I mostly paint with acrylic paint but enjoy mixed media.
