Photography
I am a fine art and portrait photographer in the borough of West Chester. My large-scale works are computer altered photographs concerning the human body and our connection to nature. My artworks are photographic images that are most often digitally altered, painted, and collaged. Nature, including the Chester County landscape, as well as the skies, beaches, trees and the foliage of my travels are the initial layer or “canvas” that I begin with. I alter these film and digital photographic images from nature with pastel, watercolor, colored pencil, wax, and computer software to create biographical narratives. These montages and collages reveal my family past, as well as a reverence for natures’ impact throughout our life journey.
I am also a portrait photographer, specializing in children/baby, family, and maternity portraiture - some of which are collaged onto wood, reminiscent of “Madonna and Child” portraits and Renaissance painting.
I'm a BFA graduate of Tyler School of Art, and MFA grad in Photography & Art Education from New York University/ International Center of Photography. I have been teaching high school art and photography for over twenty-five years, as well as all age camps and adult programs. I am the fine arts chairperson at PALCS/Center for Performing and Fine Arts, where I teach darkroom & digital photography, and drawing & painting.
