I grew up in Reading, Pa, where our playgrounds were often derelict lots. This influence has allowed me to find beauty and stories in found object and scenarios in the discarded. Wabi-Sabi, the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. Urban beauty and natural surroundings possess these qualities.
In my mixed media paintings, sculpture and photography, I continue to explore the connection to objects and society. In my “Home” series, I have struggled to define what is home to me during these turbulent times. This search has led me to many places in my surrounding area and allowed me to rediscover those scenes that bring that feeling of comfort and peace within. I have long worked to explore combining various media in my work. My curiosity and exploration of surface treatments, has allowed me to discover new ways of creating a narrative on my ceramic pieces and paintings.
