Karen McCool experiments with various mediums, such as soft pastel, and gouache, but has poured herself into oil painting, as a way to further define and perfect her style and technique. This determination toward technical proficiency, along with a joyful, open approach to the act of making art, are reflected in her work.
Coming from a family of artists, Karen has created art since childhood, but it was only after retiring from an unrelated career that she picked up a paint brush and began to pursue life as an artist. A lifelong resident of Chester County, she explores a range of subjects as a contemporary realist painter, including landscapes, architecture, and animals—all with an inspired eye for detail, texture, color, and composition.
