I am an oil painter and art jewelry craftsman. My jewelry work stems from an interest and curiosity with my observations of the natural world. I consider my oil painting as part of the contemporary realist movement, which is based primarily with a focus on color, light, and shadow. The subject matter could be anything from still life to figurative, to somewhat abstract, but the foundations are still the same. I approach my work from a traditional standpoint of massing in the larger shapes with a tonal underpainting, then refining at each stage until I achieve the essence of my subject matter. I work mostly alla prima, or in one single painting session.
