Hailing from the coastal town of Chennai in southern India the beach has been a strong attraction and an integral part of my life. All my childhood outings were to the beach especially because we boasted of Asia’s longest shoreline . The shores offered so much play area with friends and families during the summer months and also a great setting to watch unending sunrises and moon risings .
The fishing villages along the coasts had their own characteristics with the varying flora and Fauna that only tropical parts can provide.

The work titled “ fishing boats of southern india “ in acrylic on canvas was done during the pandemic when boats were all in their own lockdown in the town of kaasimedu in northern chennai .
The closeness of the boats provided an intrinsic pattern and the numerous accessories a grandeur that so commanded me to plot down each and every one of them . The small boats in the foreground along with the big boats in the background altogether presented a message in life that big or small in a pandemic like this we are all in the same situation of just “ being”
