I make kinetic jewelry that is designed to be played with. I'm inspired by the juxtaposition the utilitarianism of engineering and the intimacy of jewelry. My preparation process looks like me staying up at night imagining how parts might fit together and in the morning I go searching for the delicate parts I imagined. No measuring. Once I have the components in my studio, I experiment with oxidizing brass, varnish applications and combining finishes, and I am filled with joy - and a little surprised - when the pieces I choose fit together and move just how I had imagined. The results? Kinetic jewelry you can play with!
