I have worked professionally in stained glass since 1998, beginning as an apprentice at a studio focusing on the restoration of historical windows. Being thoroughly grounded in the traditional techniques of architectural glass has had a strong influence on my current work. I remain true to the fundamentals of the craft, while incorporating influences from botanical illustration, the arts and crafts movement, and decorative art forms from around the world. My work often involves kiln fired elements, including vitreous painting, which allows me to add fine details, and fused glass, which adds a modern, experimental element. I consider my work to fall somewhere between the designations of 'art' and 'craft,' as each panel is both a two dimensional image as well as a constructed object.
