MEET THE ARTIST

Artist Susan Klinger works primarily in soft pastel. “The first time I worked in pastel, I was intrigued by the direct application of pigment to the surface. No palette, no mixing, just direct application of the pigment to the surface.” A holdover from her days of teaching art, she will mix it up occasionally by painting in gouache, acrylic or oil. Her mainstay is realism reflecting beauty and positivity, with nature and reflections as a recurring theme. Now retired from public school teaching, Susan enjoys time for travel, providing new inspiration for her art.

Susan’s work has been exhibited in shows throughout the U.S. including the Pastel Society of America Annual Juried Exhibition, the American Artists’ Professional League Grand National Exhibitions, the Northeast National Pastel Exhibitions, the Shades of Pastel National Exhibitions and the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS).

She is represented by Avra Art Gallery, Margate, NJ and Kingsway Gallery, Yellow Springs, PA. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Artists Professional League, the Maryland Pastel Society and the Philadelphia Pastel Society. She is also a Member of Excellence in the Southeastern Pastel Society, along with memberships in the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (juried member) and the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County. Ms. Klinger holds Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees in Art Education & taught fine art on the high school & college levels for 30+ years.
