Since I started working in enamel, I have had the opportunity to study with some of the great enamelists, including Ricky Frank and Monique Perry. My first work was primarily florals, especially irises. I immerced myself in recreating the vibrancy of flowers. Since then, I have enjoyed creating pieces with fish, butterflies and birds. My latest collection is fantasy and includes a flight of dragons and a phoenix..
About the Demonstration
I love color in my jewelry. I work in the Cloisonne technique to utilize the brilliant enamel colors in my work. I start by sketching what I want to make. Then I shape the cloisonne wires to match the picture. After the wires are attached to a fine silver backplate, I can load in color enamel in very thin layers. Careful choice and application of the enamel colors allows me to define the shapes and create shading within the colors.
