I am a clothing engineer, practicing my skills in draping, patternmaking, sewing, tailoring and design for several decades. I have degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. I have taught university level courses related to my skills for two decades. I love what I do! So fun!
About the Demonstration
The wearable art I create is sculpture for the body. I use sustainable textiles - natural fibers -draping on my mannequin/dress form in a fluid process. The different shapes and sizes of the textiles, as well as the diversity of textiles, contribute to the creative process, and ultimately the end product. When finally finished with the draping process I machine and hand stitch the wearable, often adding a decoration in the form of buttons, ribbons and other notions.
