Most stories consist of words. Even children's books contain the slightest amount of words. My story is slightly more abstract than that, though. If you were to read my story, it would consist mainly of pictures, soft, earthy, and kindred colors bouncing out of pages, and the wildness of nature blooming from every corner. My way of thinking has always been more visual, and that has been profoundly inspired by nature and my childhood. While some people enjoy structure, I have found myself most comfortable in a creative space, much like the mountains I used to hike to the top of with my family in Maine, similar to exploring and collecting the ever-changing landscape from the beaches of New England and reminiscent of the ancient stories our minds and hearts absorbed from visiting museums and historical places.
My artwork has always been driven by nature and the tiny moments and memories that unite to create a menagerie of visual narratives. Creatively, I weave together nature and time, including animals, ephemera, landscapes, flora, and fauna. By visually connecting these elements, my unique vision is expressively captured. My work expresses the importance of slowly looking at life through the flow of nature and how creating one simple connection in a moment or from memory can have an immeasurable impact on our lives. Interlacing my ideas of nature into an imaginative realm creates a unique narrative and meaningful story behind each piece of artwork.
