Photography

Whether as a photographer or as a biochemist, science writer, or educator, I get my kicks from finding out stuff about stuff and sharing it with others. I strive to take photographs, ideally non-obvious but relatable ones, from which others might take away something new.

There are things ‘in plain sight’ most of us have seen which if examined in isolation from a particular angle or in a particular light resonate with our senses. That’s what my photographs aim to evoke.

Although my photographs are not truly abstract, they have abstract elements in that they attempt to isolate or emphasize shapes, colors, forms, textures, structural repeats, and gradations to reveal things about the everyday that might otherwise not be seen or given much thought.
