I am a jewelry artist, working in precious metals, mostly sterling silver, and gemstones. I enjoy the creative process of metal smithing, observing the malleability of the material and designing unique pieces of wearable art. Some of these designs develop into themed collections.
One of those collections are goddess pendants. These pendants are uniquely crafted as a one of kind design. Soldering and stone setting are the prominent techniques used in this collection. Each pendant represents a human form with gemstones or sterling elements representing the face and body with a halo or headdress type component encircling the top portion. The back is eloquently embellished for additional adornment. Goddess pendants are available in a bold statement piece or a smaller demurer size. My intention is to provide beauty and sovereignty, while providing a piece that is relatable to the wearer.
Another relatable collection is my nest collection. These little lovely creations are also created using sterling and gemstones. However, this collection holds a more natural and organic imagery. I use a technique called water casting, where molten sterling silver is poured into cold water to create a cup shape. Once the desired shape is achieved, I may solder on sterling “twigs” for a nest and set a few pearls on the inside. Sometimes no “twigs” are necessary and a single pearl is attached. These pendants tend to have an oceanic appearance. The nest collection items have been a customer favorite for many years. Nests symbolize home, providing a cozy type feeling to the wearer. My intention for the nest collection is to provide the wearer with a sense of personal belonging. And these nests are just plain cute.
I truly enjoy my craft. While creating in my studio I feel like I am in my element and doing what I was born to do. In fact, shortly after I began my jewelry making journey, I learned that my great-grandparents owned and operated a jewelry store in New York City. What an amazing discovery! I am honored to have the opportunity to continue creating in a similar way as my ancestors.
