MEET THE ARTIST

Melted beeswax is written with a stylus on blown eggshells then dyed, with wax protecting areas from the color. This process is repeated. Once finished, the wax is melted off, revealing intricate, multicolored designs. Finally, the shell is varnished to protect the artwork. In 2024, UNESCO recognized Pysanky as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
