Instructor
Heather Carey
Heather Carey is a resident of the Borough of West Chester and holds a degree in Fine Arts. She practiced as an art therapist for over 25 years, where she witnessed firsthand how the creative process can transform lives. Through her work, Heather discovered that art holds a greater purpose than simply being viewed—it is the act of creating that fosters healing, growth, and meaningful change.
About the Demonstration
Join Heather Carey for a live demonstration exploring the tools and techniques she uses to create expressive monoprints with a gel plate. She’ll share her favorite paints, explain which formulas perform best, and demonstrate how she incorporates texture tools, stencils, image transfers, and even live plants into her layered compositions. Heather will also compare results across a variety of surfaces, including butcher paper, tea bag paper, patterned paper, and wood, revealing how each substrate influences the final print. Participants will have the opportunity to try the process themselves and leave with their own original monoprint.
