I enjoy using my hands and body as primary tools while sculpting miniature stone landscapes and textural forms. My "Stonescapes" are interpretations of lands of discovery, loose representations of age-worn stone structures, dwellings and ruins. The viewer is drawn into their quiet mystery with an invitation to explore, discover and spend some reflective time in the safety of their crawl spaces.

As a child I enjoyed hours of alone time, finding peace and serenity in quiet times of discovery: the intriguing attic spaces of our 3-story Victorian home, under the dense umbrella of an old pine tree among its sprawling roots, along a rocky fieldstone wall, enduring despite its fragile state of partial ruin. In these places I would search for the perfect rock or relic to add to my pocket collection, a collection of delightfully textural reminders of the value of time spent in the pleasure and safety of my own company.

As an artist, I use repurposed paper and cardboard in the 17th-18th century European 'clay' process of papier mache for the creation of my miniature worlds. My style is primitive, rustic, old-world inspired by the stone relics that I continue to visit as an adult, when yearning for reflective alone-time and an escape from an ever-complex world; or simply the delightful textures we happen upon in our everyday routines, when we take the time to notice and absorb the beauty in and around us, and perhaps share a glimpse of the stories imbedded in every developing wrinkle.
